You would not think so to look at him, but the gentleman in the photo would one day grow up to be a fine upstanding pillar of the community, cut his hair, finish his degree, buy expensive suits and work in the city.

Furthermore, he would have the incredible fortune to meet and marry a beautiful woman called Catherine, who would one day give birth to a beautiful baby girl called Louise.

It was my privelige to stand next to him for 40 minutes on Sunday, whilst he nursed his daughter, made cooing noises and listened to his own mother recount stories to the whole church, of how, when he was a small boy, he would stand on a chair and yell down the plug hole in the sink "are you there Jesus", having internalised the notion that Jesus is everywhere. He also entertained the idea that The North Middlesex Hospital, was in fact, heaven, reasoning that all children come from heaven and The North Middlesex Hospital is, after all, where he was born. Even today he is the holder of a fanciful imagination, as he seems to believe that Tottenham Hotspur will be playing Champions league football next season. That is just a dream; but his beautiful daughter is not.

Congratulations Dave and Catherine, you will be great parents, and welcome to the family of God Louise. You will be much loved.
